Salary: $27,963 a year, plus benefits (non-certified starting salary); $30,864 a year, plus benefits (SC certified starting salary).
Description: Performs responsible protective service work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances with required related work. This position requires graduation from high school or GED equivalency, 21 years old to comply with SC Law Enforcement Council entrance requirements and possession of a valid driver’s license. It also requires a thorough background investigation. SC Criminal Justice Certification and experience as a Police Officer is preferred. REQUIRED: Completed Standard Application, Supplemental Application and Statement of Honesty. Resumes accepted only with completed application package. Certified police officers: review and sign Authorization to Release Information Form.

Just a couple of highlights....

* When you graduate from the academy, you go to $30,864.
* Medical for you including dental is free, city pays 100%. Family is additional.
* Life Insurance is also free.
* Free city gym membership (three gyms).
* Direct Deposit, paid every two weeks.
* Permanent shifts, 10 hour shifts.
* 5 on, 3 off, 5 on, 3 off, 5 on, 4 off in a 25 day cycle.
* No take home cars but cars on patrol are the newest and replaced usually every three years. All have cages, radios and laptops. Most newer ones have radar, bars on windows and LED light packages.
* All uniforms and equipment is provided including boots.
* Gun, ASP and OC provided. Taser issued at start of shift. Permanent issued radios.
* Tuition reimbursement
* We feature our own indoor firing range, training facility and FATS trainer.
* Yearly merit raises and typically a cost of living range (per city council approval). On average, both range from 3% to 6% total combined (merit and cost of living)
