Texas Mom on trial for killing kids.
http://abcnews.go.com/sections/us/Da...tes011003.html
H O U S T O N, Oct. 3 — A judge has set the trial date for Andrea Pia Yates, the Houston mother accused of drowning her five children in the family's bathtub. Although I do not have kids, this story really pi**es me off.Use any excuse to get out of trouble.Insane!?Puullleeease! > I feel no pity for her.As for "but I was depressed" crap, she should have gotten help and that doesn't give her an excuse to kill 5 beautiful, innocent children.I do believe at least one of them tried to get away according to her confession and she dragged him to the tub anyways. She is evil and should be treated that way.Depression does't make you evil towards others. It is something you take out on yourself and your own selfesteem. How in the world she came up with 'I think I will kill my kids today and get rid of my problems' is beyond my comprehension!Leave if you can't handle being a mommy or a daddy for that matter! And if you check out the whole story the father is standing beside her on this so far.HUH!?Ok enough of my rant.I could go on forever.I want to hear your views though. So what do you think of this particular story?

Okay, I'm going to play devils advocate just for a moment. Let's look at your signature that was posted with this post....

Re: Texas Mom on trial for killing kids.
Legal definition of insanity:At time of crime the individual didn't know the difference between right and wrong.I may have missed a few words and I don't know that state's laws verbatum, but I don't think she was legally insane at the time she did this. You can't tell me she didn't know what she was doing was wrong.Yeah you would have to be somewhat off to do something like this and that is what I call an evil person with no conscience. She let emotion override logic.Maybe I should change my signature to include common sense.Death penalty is what she deserves and I hope she gets it.Only my opinion.
Logically speaking of course! ;D ;D

Re: Texas Mom on trial for killing kids.
In my area, it's not called insanity, but "abnormailty of mind".

Re: Texas Mom on trial for killing kids.
With logic in mind: She will be found guilty by reason of insanity, and spend the rest of her days in a hospital. She will recieve the help she needs, and not be able to hurt anyone anymore.
Without logic in mind: She should be strapped to the table and injected with the nite nite juice. She doesn't deserve to live, since she thought her children didn't either. |

I hope the jury throws the logic out the window and does what is right.Like Goodcop said: nite nite juice!

Re: Texas Mom on trial for killing kids.
Peaches, In Texas insanity is hard to make. I do think she will be convicted of capital murder. The question is will she get the death penalty. I am sure we are all for it. But the question a jury has to answer in Texas is whether this person is a continuing threat to society? I wouldn't want to be on that jury and have to give her life instead of death but that is what they will have to do. In this case life might be worst than death.
