Rumor?
I heard this from a DJ's office staff today. A Harrisburg constable has started a company and has contracted with the state to handle warrants. Supposedly constables will have 60 days to clear their warrants after which this company will get them. They have 60 days. Uncleared warrants then go back to the DJ for a period of time then turned into the county where they turn into a criminal warrant for 1 year. At the end of the year it'll go away.
This just sounds like so much bs on so many different levels but hey, you never know. Anyone else hear anything remotely similar? |

All,
The only person/company I've ever heard of trying something like that was a former Constable named Ernie Cribari who used to be a Constable in the Harrisburg area. The company was/is called PA Taskforce. They do various types of quasi-LE training and bail enforcement/"warrant" services. Word was that they may even have some active Constables on the payroll. I don't know if that is who you're referring to but if that is, a quick check on Google provided their website. http://www.pa-taskforce.us/ Looks like an interesting site but I've heard several negative things about some of the guys working for them from local, state and even federal LEOs. The general thought from the people I've talked to is that they're pretty much all show, no go (although I was told that they do employ some instructors with pretty high speed backgrounds - specops military, federal LE ). Can't speak from any personal interaction though. Your mileage may vary IF this is even who you're referring to. I'd appreciate you keeping us up to date if you DO manage to find out who it is!! Something like that could have some pretty serious ramifications legally as I really can't see a solid legal basis for private individuals performing LE duties (warrant service) beyond the very specific circumstances already "set-up" for bail enforcement and bail bondsmen. -LawDawg- |

can you better define that.... criminal warrants are usually for M-3's and above... so, what makes a summary warrant turn into a criminal warrant???? ok, if i'm understanding what your saying about the constable contracting; this person waits till an active constable pursues; and nothing happened in the 60 days of there possession. this is the first time i ever hear of a constable doing this... many years ago, legislation was passed that "collection agencies" can do the same thing. i know in my area one collection agency that attempts to collect on warrant's, already gone thru the system. trust me, from what i've heard, the collection agencies don't seem to fair well. just wanted to provide input on this...it's nothing to fear, honestly, nobody's going to take work out of anyone's mouth by this person's actions. maynard |

If anything the individual started a Collections Agency. They cop a plea w/ the County to keep a percenatge of the amount collected.
That system is a proven failure in the South and West. However most areas in PA never experamented w/ it. A County out w/pa decided to go Collectios first if that fails to a PSC. The add ins on that stuff above is probably rumor. Turn Cr what not. What threat is a Collections Agency, none, we will hit you on your credit report. Ohhh. |

a warrant is just re-issued back to the DJ. how does a collection agency collect on a warrant? they don't phyiscally give them the warrant, the collection agency is given the Fines an Costs; and can advise there is an active warrant outstanding. they probably get a copy of the citations; just not the physical warrant. warrant can go away if there's no Plea; and statue of limitations has exceeded on the violation. maynard |

I don't know the answer to your questions Maynard. This is a rumor that I spread to all of you. I think it's far fetched but then you never know. Govt does stupid things. If we can't find someone after 60 days how is some quasi collection agency?
I also thought the summary warrant turning into a common pleas lvl warrant a bit too much. As well as the warrant just going away after a year. |

i was explaining something that can get people turned upside down, and in reality it's nothing to fear. simsim confirmed my statements about the collection agencies and there success rate. very poor. i'm hoping my addressing it, helps to understand about the constable rumour who is getting warrants, or collecting fines/costs, not the physical warrant. be interesting to know, if he/she is getting the physical warrant???? maynard |

Warrant
Would be hard for a collection agency to do anything on a warrant for "fail to respond" They really can't harass you to pay if you haven't pled or been found guilty
