I carry an XD45 Tactical. I am looking for an auto lock retention holster. My question is what experiences have been had with retention holsters and the varying levels and models.

I carry a G22 in a BlackHawk. It comes with a belt attachment or a paddle( which i despise very much). It requires the user to press a small button if you will upon drawing your weapon. Has a very natural feel to it. I use this holster for duty and concealed carry. Available at the local gun shop for about $40.

I'll second that. the setup is known as a SERPA holster. you can get it for just about any firearm (esp Glocks). I actually enjoy the paddle just fine (except for removal, but no biggie there)

the Level 1 or 2 should do just fine.

If you are looking for a more concealed carry, I've seen Galco (I think it was them) that had a leather OWB concealing holster that has the little button to release the weapon. Otherwise, I have an acquaintance that custom makes holsters for concealed carry. I don't think he does the button release, though.

Tell him I referred you. It doesn't reap me any benefit, but he just likes to know where is customers are coming from.

Sorry for the blatant promo here, but since we're talking holsters, I figured it was reasonable!
