He was drunk in public. When we got to the jail, he mumbles. "I'm going to whip you when I see you out of those cop clothes" I said, "I don't think you eat enough beans and taders to whip me"
LOL

Don't you just love when the perps,. particularly when intoxicated, can't seem to keep their mouth shut? Some of the regulars in Minneapolis are rather amusing to deal with when DK (our term for drunk). They also tend to do stupid things that bring more charges.
I recall when I first started last year a cop and I were dealing with 3 or 4 DKs in a park. We cited them all for having liquor in the park. They were cooperative, and not disorderly. All but one was able to walk steadily enough along to leave the park, but one was not. We were contemplating calling the Detox van until this one DK (female) drops her drawers cuz she's gotta pee and does her business . . . . . . out came a secondary pair of exam gloves as well as the bracelets. Once we got to jail, we were hoping that she would be able to walk enough on her own, because if they can't, jail won't take them. We brought her right up to the doorway so she only had to take 1 step. She did, they took her, and we got the heck out of dodge!

If they can't take them, what happens?
Detox van? Drive around for a while? lol
Hospital?
Just curious.

Option 1. 1800 Chicago Avenue is Detox. They have beds and take both males and females for a 72 hour (I think) hold.
Option 2. Detox van. I have no idea what their capabilities are, but they respond to a ton of DKs.
Option 3. Special care. Straight up I don't know what they do, but I know they will take DKs.

Since we are talking about them being too wasted to walk to the jail, and thus the jail doesnt want them.. after you do one of the 3 things or whatever above, and they have calmed down and can at least walk, since they were going to jail in the first place to get denied there, do you THEN take them to jail or does that just depend on the situation?

Yeah right. We're getting rid of them, bottom line. Special Care will take them, but are the last resort.
