Hello
I have a few tattoos from my college days and now after 7 years of being an officer I am thinking about getting a police theme tattoo. I know Staint Michael is a popular one to get but would like to know or see what others have.

My department frowns on them. I have thought of getting one (1*) but never have because I will probably work undercover at some point. Guess it just depends on what you are going to do.

I've not heard of any "police" tatts symbolizing you are on a department. Nothing like a Special Forces tatt or what have you. Most of the cops I know don't have tatts, and those that do, have ones that do not have anything to do with the job, and also are not visible with standard uniform.

anytime I have seen a tat on a cop it was military related i.e semper-fi, USMC or something to do with his platoon etc. Tats being allowed depends on the department, SDPD has one cop that has sleeves of tats down to his wrists but they make him wear long sleeve shirts and have since changed their policy I believe.

I've seen quite a few cop tattoos, the 1*, a badge or star and the thin blue line. Alot of the guys with my old department have them.

The couple of cops I've seen around in my town with tats, one has full sleeves.....they are the most intimidating cops I've run into. Not that tattoos are good, but they do change the appearance of a person, they also kind of give a less professional look. If it were me I'd get it where it's easily covered up.

Yea, the officer I ride with nearby, he has 2 full sleeves, and during the winter he has a long duty shirt on, but during the summer, he's go short sleeve shirt on, the chief doesn't care, and he allows them to get more tattoos, as long as they don't have anything thats inapproprirate, at least that can't be seen while on duty. No hate crime speech, no nazi signs, no naked women, etc etcet c.

I also am going to be getting one when I graduate with my degree. I am also thinking of getting either Saint Michael or Saint Christopher.

I'd recommend following the old Army adage about where to have tats... (since the new policy allows tats where they weren't allowed before...). Also, just use some common sense on what to get and where.
That in mind, one of the best officers, and the one I preferred to have respond to any incident by my furthest off campus apartment had tats all over including a spiderweb on one elbow. Smaller guy but pretty intimidating.

I know that I am still in school but I have decided to go tomorrow and get the word Hope in small elegant font tattooed on the inside of my left wrist.
I figure that a long sleeve shirt, watch, or bracelet can cover it if needed.
I feel that this word has meant a lot to me over the years and I want it where I can see it and be reminded of the hope that we all need to get through everything that life throws at us.

That is a nice motivational tat. I'd recommend getting it small enough that a standard sports watch strap... about 3/4" wide (I think, i don't have a ruler) would cover it.
*Keep in mind that women's watches are usually smaller/thinner than men's...

I was looking to be a future law enforcement officer myself. I have a tattoo on the right side of my stomach, a cross on my back, claddagh on my calf, and an anagram on the bottom side of my forearm. Would those be acceptable.

Never seen a tattoo interpretation of him before. Micheal's an interesting choice since he's an angelic prince of war. In fact, what cops do is basically an earth version of what biblical angels do. 8)
