As a newer Constable, I have come to the conclusion that there are many of us out here who strive to be professional in what we do. The more I read your posts, the more I believe that we have enough work to do by serving warrants and working for the District Court system. The system could be improved by allowing us to have access to J-net and for more training opportunities. The majority of Constables I have met are professional and work hard at the job. We need to support each other because we have been elected to serve the public with a high calling, so don't put yourselves down.
This is honorable work that can be done in a professional way. The work load is only going to be greater for those of us in fast growing areas. The defendants are going to get tougher and more dangerous, so we need to help each other when the need arises.
As far as training goes, we need to be of one voice and communicate with PCCD and tell them what we would like to see in the coming years.
The bottom line is we have an important job to do and yes it is very specific
for a reason, we have a lot of people out there who don't pay fines and who do not care untill we come knocking at their door. Then they care and usually take care of the situation. If we want respect, we have to give it to get it. People may say he/she is just a Constable, but try walking into the
Capitol Building in Harrisburg and the guards give you respect. They understand our position.
If another Constable callls me to supply back up for him or her I would do it
because I respent him/her and will help a brother when asked.
