Back in August I had an opportunity to take a motorcycle benefit ride with about 150 other motorcyclists from Marquette Michigan to Sault Ste Marie Michigan. This was about a 200 mile ride.

This ride was to benefit Michigan officers who have been injured on the job past and future.

4 officers came from the very southern part of the lower peninsula to escort us in a safe manner to our destination. It was great to meet them and 'thank them' for coming all that way and help us out.

This was the 4th annual ride and I had only heard about it (the very existence of such a ride) the previous year the very night b/4 the ride so I had no way of joining. But I definitely checked things out in time this past year and registered.

Being a non-LEO this is my way (altho small) of giving what support I can for those who 'protect and serve' us.

I'm definitely going to start checking out the 'thin blue line' site come April as I believe that's when they start notifications.

I guess this could also serve as a reason for explaining my avatar. :)

Sorry for the long post, but I just felt a need to let all you who are LEO's know that there are some of us who are try to support you in whatever way we can.

Thankyou for your support, i am not a sworn in officer yet, but i like to see people who understand our tough job and what we have to do. Many people these days live in a sheltered world and believe that the police are here to serve them. They media watches an arrest and makes up a story on police brutality, people call cops pigs and say they are no good. But yet when they need help the first people they will call are the police.

We need more people like you :)

It seems the media don't really care to get the 'full truth' of a matter. Seems when police officers are involved in something they're always in the wrong no matter what they do. I've always had issues withthe way the media handles things.

Just because people don't understand or know what is involved in being an officer there's no room for disrespect. They're human too. They're gonna make mistakes just like any of us. It's just that they're more in the 'limelight' if you all undestand what I'm getting at.

Just like everything else in the world, again we all make mistakes. But it seems a police officer isn't supposed to.

Well, I'm here to tell you, for those of us who don't really know what all it takes or what situations they end up getting involved in, I'd like to see some of us have to think fast - make a decision in possibly seconds. And then have to deal with it. Personally, I'm glad there are some that are willing to give it there all -- because I sure couldn't do it.

Humph! I sure hope this all makes sense. I get a little carried away with the keyboard sometimes. :lightning

I agree whole-heartedly, there is no room for disrespect, ever. And I am so grateful that they do take on the job that we couldn't do.

And yes, you do make sense and I'm finding out from LE forums that there are more people like us and we are right in our support of LE.

Keep posting your thoughts because for some strange reason it happens to be what I am thinking too. But you seem to say it better.
