I decided to put this topic here because I expect it to fit better here even though it is a question.

What are your thoughts? Good? Bad? Indifferent?

As LEO's it will be impossible for us to avoid such issues. How can we handle them? How do you handle them?

Some more food for thought. The US just had a change in its largest minority group. It was formerly the black community. Now it is the hispanic community.

Also, they (whoever that is) say that by the year 2020, whites are going to become the minority in the United States, and the dominant language spoken will be Spanish and not English.

This was a topic which came up in class last night. I opened my mouth and almost got stoned! :o

Another part of the reason for putting the topic here. ;D

I think diversity and multiculturism is great. However, all the crap that comes along with it is not.

I'll be damned if I'm going to revert to Spanish to go to the corner store. And I'll be damned if someone will get away with a crime because of them not speaking English.

The best part, I have a Spanish last name, am whiter than paper, and speak spanish with the best of them ;D

My 2 cents..... I think these buzz words are a bunch of bull ****.

We do not need new terms to teach ourselves RESPECT FOR OTHERS! I believe that if everyone in this world took a look at their own shortcomings and faults that they would truely treat others as they would want to be treated.

My grand parents and great grtandparents came to this country, learned english, the counting system and our cultures. They also brought theirs with them and did not give them up. They thought it to be RUDE to speak their native toung in public! They had respect for others and spoke english outside of the house!

For the matter of forcing others to learn, practice,or respect thier ways and such. ..... you cannot force someone to do something and be successfull.

I respect others in this country because this is where you come for freedom!!

but let's not forget our heritage in the USA!!

BTW I am taking a Spanish course to familiarize my myself with the language.....so I am able to protect myself and be polite to those who have not been polite enough to learn our language ( even though english is a hard language to learn ???)

We all have history from somewhere else but together we are AMERICANS.
