LAPD Academy

Hello all, I am just looking for some last minute info about the LAPD academy from anyone who has/is going through it, or anyone that knows a lot about it. I have my oral psych on the 21st of this month and they have put me on the list for the may 25 academy pending my oral psych. (seems weird since i'm not done with my process yet) But I was just looking to see if anyone has any extra insight into the process or academy that might help me out.



PS Anyone else out there trying to get in/in LAPD process?



What is the first day like? I have heard many different things...

Im a new member of this site, sorry for the such a late responce. If all you need is the psych.... your in!!! You really dont have anything else to worry about. But, there is some small things left. For example, the hiring staff in the 700 Temple address have to approve your packet. With that said, if you look good on paper you will get a call from a Recuitment Officer stating that you are in (or not). Now all thats left is you final drug test, a hair sample test, which is done at the Medical Div. Dept (across the street from 700 Temple). Then its academy time! Good luck to you....... by the way, I heard through the grapevine that LAPD will put a hiring freeze very soon, due to the budget. I also heard that the last academy might be the class of June 09 until further notice.
Also, stay tuned since I start the Academy on May 26th 2009. I will try to keep upcoming recruits posted of the academy life. One thing, I have heard from new Officers that the Academy is a great experience. Its somewhat of a college environment. YES there is alot of running and your usual yelling, but they said that the Academy was Awsome for them.
