Contact Fed-Ex or UPS.

They could recommend something. If not, contact ATF.

Is taking it with you not an option? I would think that would be easiest.

ummmm yeah, but crime in costa rica is growing a lot, so i definitely want a gun, I know it is not a guarantee, but at least it gives me piece of mind. The problem is that a gun there costs a lot more than a gun here, for example, I bought my glock at 400$ the same glock there is gonna cost me like 1000$, plus i do not want to spend time searching for one, I need it right away because my family in Costa Rica has had some problems with criminals who have tried to enter the house in several ocations and the local police cant do shi...

I don't understand the point of this response to webster4. Did you read the "not" of his question in the wrong position of the sentence?

He is suggeting you take it with you.

To get the best information, call TSA at your nearest airport.

No...it has to go under the plane with your checked luggage and then there are tons of requirements such as you have to have it pre-approved with the airline and they only allow a certain amount of ammo to be transported with it. The rest will have to be UPSed (Fed-Ex won't do ammo the last time I checked.)

Yes, sorry that was my idea. Take it on the plane in your luggage. It is a pain in the ass, but lots cheaper and less likely to get stolen/"lost" than sending it usps or fed-ex.

I've done it a few times, mind you that has been a couple of years but I doubt it's changed much. Call the airline you are flying, ask them what you need to do to take it. see if they have a website with the info on it also or if they can send you something, that way you can review to make sure you don't violate any laws. I know you need a lockable case, it has to be empty, the ammo can't be with the gun (I think), and TSA has to check it out before you board, and they'll put a sticker or card on it to show that it's approved.

Hope this helps.
