About becoming a Los Angeles Count Sheriff Deputy

Hi my name is Ray im a soon to be 30 year old black male living in the Los Angeles area aspiring to becoming a La County Sheriff Deputy. Ive had a few run ins with the law that i would like to aks about. I had a Felony (Criminal Threat against a spouse) a few years back that i had expunged it was reduced to a misdemeanor and then dissmised. I currently have a Domestic Violence case that should have been run congruently with the Criminal threat but was run as seperate cases, the reason i say that is when i was taken into custody for criminal threat i did not know my childs mother at the time had previously filed a Domestic Violence report to my suprise and the officers as well because i was living with her at this point and it was never brought to my knowledge. Well im currently getting that expunged. The only other thing i have on my record was a petty theft i recieved about 4 years ago and just to clarify i didnt steal anything out of a store or of that nature i recieved that charge because my original charges was passing of ficticous check and burglary i was trying to pay back a friend who i thought was my friend at the time but obviously was not so my lawyer new the da in that case and the ficticous check and burglary were dropped to a simple petty theft.The last case i have is a possesion which is coming off in march of 09 which will be dismissed. In saying all this i know i look like a criminal but im realy not, mind you i have never been to LA County Jail nor Prison just have made some real stupid mistakes that hopefuly havent cost me a career which i have been aspiring to get in too since i was a kid. What can i do to show the Los Angeles County Sherriffs Dept that i have grown since those incident's, and that my integrity has grown as well. What is my best option. Just to give you a option i thought about. Im currently getting my GED i am very educated went o private schools all my life and recieved the best eduction just got a car in my 12th grade year and as you can gues never went to class so i was thinking upon my completion go to the Navy for at least 6years keep my nose clean have my record cleaned to show the Department that i have grown.
