Hi,
I was wondering, how fast would a person need to be speeding on a highway to be arrested? If someone was going 100 over, obviously they would be detained, but someone going 10 over wouldn't. (This is assuming that they weren't doing anything else wrong.)

Thanks,
William

In this state... ONE mile over is citable, and any citation might bring weight of bond if you don't live close.

Here in MN, if you're caught going triple digits your driving privledges are permanently revoked.

Depends.

The min we can cite at is 6 over and although I can detain any out-of-state motorist ( to post bond) , it just would depend.

Some people can talk their way into deeper doo-doo than what they originally were going to get hit with.

Every speeding ticket is considered an "arrest". When you sign the ticket here, your posting your own bond on the spot. Refuse to sign and you sit in jail on a speeding charge. I love the ones who refuse, suprises them when I tell them to get out and they are being arrested.

I am curious, trinic. Of those who refused to sign, did any reconsider their options? :)

Every one of the ones who I have advised of that little bit of info suddenly reconsidered :D

to be cuffed and stuffed at 26mpr over and this also is an instant revocation.
This is just short of 100mph based on our limits and seems reasonable to me.
Like so many laws it is entirely up to the Officers descretion as to a physical arrest.

two things in TX you can't arrest for: Speeding and Open Container.

However, If you can articulate wreckless driving....click click click!

Wait, so you mean that joke of "20 things not to say to the cop" "Officer, can you hold my beer (except in Texas)" is real? I figured it was part of the joke...

Either that or I really need to wake up to see the sarcasm here....?
