I just watched a Television show called, "The Academy", and I was wondering if in real life Police Academies were actually that YELLING YOUR EAR-ish. Thanks for all answer.

If you mean yelling your ear off or like boot camp, yes many of them can be that way. Mine was.

Yes, a cadet can expect to get yelled at when it is appropriate.

Does it use the same principal that I at least heard the use in army boot camps? That is, straining you for the first couple weeks then relaxing a bit.

Law Enforcement is paramilitary and not military. It's societal function is entirely different while many of its structures are similar.

The academy trains experientially and not solely didactically. Simulated strain and stress trains for real world stuff.
