Oh, and Bike makes a good reminder, some topics are insanely old, and the member may or may not participate any more. You would be able to check using the Members link at the top of the page, or clicking on the member's name in the post and choosing to view their public profile.
Please search the forum before authoring a new topic.
Thread closed due to old age.
You should have conducted a forum search prior to asking since there is a lengthy discussion regarding this very subject.
Capt. Peltz...I suggest you start your own, NEW thread if you're trying to network. Let these old threads die in dignity.
*shoutsoverhisshoulder*.....try the SEARCH feature with that one
Decisions, decisions. . .
Respond to an old thread about the topic I'm interested in, or start a brand new one. . .?

Resurrecting a thread properly would be like re-opening a discussion. Not a bad idea since many of us may not have been involved in the previous discussion. However, responding to the respondents of the old thread irrespective of their years of inactivity is different. It is like looking for a party in a ghost town.
If you have found a thread that could use added dialog, then I would start it saying that the thread was interesting but "I would add..." I wouldn't simply chime in as if all the old members are going to suddenly come back because I replied to the echoes of their old ideas.
Does that clear up a legitimate resurrection with a naive one?
So...what did you find Jug??

Quotes 1, 3 and 5 were resurrecting topics with members that hadn't been active in at least 4 years. They ain't coming back randomly just because you posted in their thread. The poster was also asking questions of those individuals who haven't logged on in 4-5 years, again, they ain't going to show up.

Honestly, do what you feel makes the most sense. Me? I've resurrected topics from time to time because I know it drives Missy nuts. Usually they are humor topics that the more recent crew may enjoy, but it's mainly the sadist in me to drive Missy nuts! LOL!
Love ya, Missy! ;)

Common sense should be the key in deciding to resurrect an old topic or start a new one. Bringing good jokes back to life? No problem there - doesn't matter if the original poster is here or not since their opinion, or anyone else's in the thread, is irrelevant.
The neon lights question thread? Makes sense to have it. Why have hundreds of new threads started with just one question about vehicle lighting when folks can simply post in this thread or do a search and find someone else who already had the question answered?
